In partnership with Change Agents UK, BAMEEN successfully delivered the Big Energy Saving Network (BESN)—a government-supported initiative funded by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. The project aimed to support Hull residents, particularly those from Black and Minoritised backgrounds and other disadvantaged communities, to reduce their energy bills and maintain warm, energy-efficient homes.

Through this initiative, BAMEEN provided free, personalised energy advice, helping individuals and families make informed choices around tariffs, payment methods, energy efficiency schemes, and supplier switching. We worked closely with local community groups, frontline staff, volunteers, and individual consumers, ensuring that support was culturally appropriate and accessible.

The programme was delivered using an “assist to action” approach—going beyond just raising awareness to guiding and signposting consumers toward concrete steps that led to real savings and improved home comfort.
